Hummana, Hummana: The Charitable Man-sel

Two things will stand the test of time when it comes to men being hot.

1) Men doing nice things is really nice. It gives off the illusion that they could actually be nice people, and therefore, good husband-figures. Hey, I'm just the messenger.

2) A tan suit is always appropriate and really, should be worn more often. Few men wear tan suits and it is always a source of confusion. Why not opt for a more-casual-but-still-polished look sometimes? I think the tan suit is under-utilized.

My evidence?

Here is Prince Harry. (If there was room for a third point on men being hot, it would be that men who have some sort of noble title are automatically hot. Hey, I'm not hating on Harry's ginger locks, I'm just saying how did the Prince of Monaco snag his Olympic swimmer wife, and why does she always look miserable while he is old and crotchety? Nobility. That is why. Poor Charlene.)

Anyway, Harry is visiting Kingston, Jamaica so that he can mark all three things off on the timeless hotness charts.

Mansel Abbey: Hummana Hummana

Downton Abbey is the best historical drama you need to be watching. There are maids, butlers, finery and aristocrats. And they're British. Did I mention it's historical? And Maggie Smith is in it??

This series has been rocking Damsel HQ for the past month with its scandals and one liners. We've breezed through the two available seasons and are now feeling bereft because the third season won't be coming out until September 2012 in Britain and as late as 2013 here in the States! We have been clutching our pearls for weeks since learning this horrid news!

There's just so much to love—scandals, ladies in gorgeous dresses and cocktail hours where words like "minx" and "scoundrel" are delightfully thrown about. Oh, and there are also quite handsome gentlemen, with accents and cravats to boot.

The handsome heir of Downton.

They Irish driver, with a rebellious streak.

The tragically sweet second footman foiled by...

...the frustratingly evil, yet undeniably handsome first footman.

Oh my, how did that get in there?

Still need convincing? Maybe this charming interview with the cast members will convince you.

History is always hummana hummana-worthy.

Hummana Hummana: Man-sels for Sale

Oh yeah. We're having a special on Man-sels. Today only, buy one, get one free! You heard me right, two Man-sels for the price of one! We're practically giving them away over here!

Who are the fine pieces of man-flesh, you ask? I'm glad you brought it up. Because it brings up more things, and I really enjoy going on tangents. Valentine's Day is coming up, if you didn't know, Damsels. And, along with all the other corny and romantic things produced for and on said holiday, nothing pleases me quite like the V-Day movie.

This year, many films are galivanting around as V-Day movies: on a serious note, The Vow, on the other side of the scale, This Means War with Reese Witherspoon.

Here's the part where you say, where are the Man-sels, Damsel? With a slightly higher voice than necessary. Hey, I promise, there's a rhyme to my reason. Just go with it.

I'm excited for Reese. She is back to being flirty and fun, which is how we all grew to love her (Legally Blonde), which isn't to say we didn't like her in Walk the Line (of course we did) or we didn't ever mean to go to Water for Elephants (we so meant to go, it was just timing issues, I promise!). But this just feels so natural. And, she just seems so happy in her personal life, that I just want to applaud everything she does, from red-carpet appearances to shopping with her daughter.

Also, while we're here, I'd like to say a few choice words about Chelsea Handler. Can the girl not be in something? She is everywhere, and it is not a good thing. It is like when Krispy Kreme was like, "OMG people like us again! Let's put stores everywhere, and then also put stores in people's houses! Then, let's put stores directly in people's mouths - it's so conveniently genius!" That is what Chelsea Handler is doing - overextending herself, and really, her welcome in American homes. I mean, she has her show, which has its moments. Then she has books, and she hosts the VMAs (she bombed it, btw), and then she gets a spin-off show about her show, then she gets a show about her book that stars her and that girl from That 70s Show - who no one cared about because Mila Kunis was there - then when we thought maybe ONE THING would be sacred, she's in movies too. I mean, can we have ONE THING, Chelsea? Apparently not.

Double the Man-sel, double the fun? Yes, we've arrived. This Means War has two hunky men in a compromising situation. I actually do think this movie looks really promising. It stars Chris Pine (of Star Trek and Princess Diaries 2 fame. You didn't let that slip, did you? Yes, I said Princess Diaries 2, and I'm not ashamed! I loved that movie - so much sexual tension, all caused by Chris Pine, so don't even go there with me.) and Tom Hardy - I have no clue who Tom Hardy is, but I know from this movie he can handle a gun, and a suit with a skinny tie, and that's really all I need to know. (If you're curious, IMDB says he's been in Inception, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, Sucker Punch, and in post-production, The Dark Knight Rises - gearing up for a big year, aren't you, Tom?)

Anyway, here they are giving meaningful looks in suits.

That marriage has done Reese good, no?

Hummana Hummana: Mansels with Style

It is that time again, Damsels. I would say wipe those smiles off your faces, but I'm smiling too. Why? Because it is Wednesday, and therefore the Hummana, Hummana post. I can't deprive you of a little eye-candy, simply because I don't want to deprive myself.

So, here we are. Let me begin by saying that I am a Facebook fan of ZARA clothing. Where is this leading, you might ask? Patience is a virtue, dear Damsels. Because I'm a fan of ZARA on Facebook, I'm able to see notifications from them. Some of them tell me new clothing options in the stores and provide pictures. But, yesterday, as I was perusing my social network, ZARA posted something titled, "YOUNG Evening Lookbook." A casual post for some, but a look at the pictures suggests otherwise. This, my dear, dear Damsels, is what I wish men would do. EVERYTHING I wish they would do! Why don't they do it?

These "YOUNG" men are wearing casual coats over dress shirts with ties! They are parting their hair! They look polished and put together and stylish. Do I have to mention the jaw line? I hope you noticed that on your own.

I will leave you with a few other looks from the lookbook. Enjoy.

Seriously, why can't they do this?

Hummana Hummana: Sexiest Mansels Alive 2011

OK, ladies. Let's just cut to the chase here, because we know what you want. You want a little man-sel and you want it now. Hey, understandable. We could all use a little more meat this time of year—and of course I'm referring to turkey.

PEOPLE has released its "Sexiest Man Alive 2011" list and the winner is...
Via PEOPLE

Bradley Cooper? I guess those eyes are kind of piercing, and his character in The Hangover was funny and lovable if not a little douche-y, but really? I can't say I mind the eye-candy, but there is a lot of merchandise out there, or as we say in the business, "merch."

In the interest of...well, Man-sel-viewing, let's examine that "merch." I give you some of the other candidates that made the coveted annual list:

Via PEOPLE

Ah. Liam Hemsworth. Miley-dater extraordinaire, Hunger Games star and most importantly, man-who-has-a-first-name-in-common-with-Liam-Neeson, an actor I find incredibly endearing and, if you must know, I also find him bad-ass in the movies Les Miserables and Taken (an odd assortment of movies, I agree).

Via PEOPLE

Another endearing candidate? Tim McGraw. Never underestimate the sex-power of a married man who loves his wife. Loyalty is attractive, and so are cowboy hats and boots (when applicable, read: if you're a country star, or you are dressing up for a theme-party).

Can't get enough? Go to people.com to view the rest of the candidates who made THE list of 2011.

Well, there you have it, Damsels. A Hummana Hummana worthy of the day before Thanksgiving. What are you thankful for?

Hummana Hummana: Man-sels parting their hair

Is it just me? Am I the only one in the world that likes a man with a little bit of a coiffure? When did it become lame for a man to put some time into his hair style? I don't know if I will be shunned for this viewpoint or not, but I like a man who combs and parts his hair. It doesn't have to be every day, in fact...it makes a nice change for special occasions.

Now, in no way am I condoning anything slicked back with pounds of gel or pomade. Do you hear me? IN NO WAY AM I CONDONING loads of product or greasy, car salesmen styles. But a little combing? A little part here and there? A spritz of hairspray or two? Is that hurting anyone?

It certainly isn't hurting me. Do you agree?

You can't tell me this doesn't look like someone cleaned up:

Or that this man isn't distinguished. The hair tells the story.

Certainly, no one can fight with a legend:

And, you simply can't argue with the standards of a Royal Wedding (or this serious man-candy). A standard rule applies. If it's good enough for Kate Middleton, it is good enough for me.
